Investigation of the São Francisco riverbed using side scan sonar

To guide the restoration of the bank of the São Francisco River, in the villages of Itaquatiara and Curralinho (Barra – BA), a high-resolution side scan sonar survey was carried out to identify rocky substrates and other structures.
By using the sonar, we were also able to identify sandy structures, called ripples, which indicate the transport of sediments along the riverbed.
